Treasury

The finance committee serves a critical function in the fiscal management of the Organization. It is responsible for preparing the budget, developing comprehensive fundraising strategies, and ensuring that financial information is accessible to the executive committee, Board members, and active members. 


The Treasurer is tasked with maintaining a complete and accurate account of all receipts and disbursements, as well as depositing all funds into the Organization's bank accounts. Disbursement of the Organization's funds occurs only upon the President’s directive, with all transactions being thoroughly checked for accuracy. An officer must sign each check or draft issued by the Organization to uphold strict accountability.


Additionally, the Finance Committee is responsible for formulating and reviewing fiscal procedures, fundraising plans, and the annual budget. It ensures that annual reports detailing income, expenditures, and anticipated revenue are submitted to the Board in a timely manner. Furthermore, the committee guarantees that the Organization's financial records are publicly available, promoting transparency among Board members and active stakeholders.


The economic Committee is responsible for developing and reviewing employment and business initiatives, for promoting Congolese economic network and for thinking about means to boost Congolese economic activities.

  • This department is responsible for allocating the funds from donation, members contribution,  grant, specifically including:
  • Overseeing the organization financial accounting 
  • Releasing financial statement accounting
  • Manage financial activity, 
  • Monthly rent payment
  • Recording all the expenses paycheck for all staff
  • Buying the equipment, supplies and materials  needed for a program or activities
  • Ensuring legal compliance for payroll processes
  • Managing the grant fund accordingly

Arts and Culture

CCWC has established an arts and culture program to support African Americans with ties to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, children of immigrant parents, college students, and others interested in learning about Congolese heritage. This program offers activities such as drum workshops, folk dance, traditional music, and language classes, including Swahili, Lingala, and French. CCWC also aims to preserve and teach Congolese languages.

 

The Goal of this program are :

  • To encourage Congolese families to preserve their cultural identity by fostering unity and strengthening bonds within families and communities. 
  • To offer children chances to learn Congolese languages, join traditional dance, and play instruments. The program builds children's confidence and pride, connects families across generations, and unites communities.
  • Support African Americans of Congolese descent in exploring their ancestral culture by providing space for connection through language, music, and dance at CCWC. This knowledge helps maintain ties to their origins and fosters a sense of belonging. 
  • To increase student engagement in Black African American Heritage and Arts and Culture programs by offering deeper insights into Congolese arts and opportunities to participate in CCWC cultural activities learning the national language, traditional music, and dance so these skills enhance academic performance and broaden cultural perspectives.



SOCIAL

The Department of Social at CCWC leads community welfare efforts to support Congolese newcomers and vulnerable members of the community. Their main purpose is to help individuals, families by  building a support plans to enhance members' quality of life, helps communities overcome challenges and access essential resources. 


The department plans and executes activities such as: 

  • Welcoming newcomers
  • Supporting events like weddings and baby showers
  • Providing health support
  • Supplying basic necessities and food,
  • Arranging transportation for key appointments 
  • Offering counseling or crisis intervention
  • Providing emotional and grief support
  • Responding during emergencies such as evictions and family crises


They guide low-income Congolese immigrants in: 

  • Navigating government benefits
  • Providing assistance with public housing
  • Cash assistance
  • Food stamps
  • Healthcare coverage applications. 


The programs include collecting and donating: 

  • School supplies
  • Hygiene and household products
  • Cooking foods in various events
  • Partnering with public and private organizations 

Women

The Department of Women is committed to building a more equitable community with women from underrepresented communities. CCWC sees women’s participation as a powerful strategy for removing barriers  for those committed to challenging systemic inequities and acting on shared values of inclusion, participation, and justice.
This department targets women who want to grow economically, mentally, and professionally, and is designed for women at various stages of life. The department  aims to promote intentionality while equipping women with concrete strategies to reach their next level. 


The vision of the Department of Women is to draw Congolese women closer to planning for their daily lives, and their households. Department of Women is dedicated to promoting the rights of women and ensuring they have the power to shape the future of CCWC. They are improving conditions for women to advance in life by specifically equipping women of color, women experiencing financial hardship, and gender-expansive individuals with the knowledge, tools, and resources to advocate for the issues that matter most to them. 


The initiative, dedicated to the department of women, aims to connect women to high-growth jobs and entrepreneurial resources. Explore training and accelerator programs, maternal health, and they inspire women to reach their full potential at work and in life. Departments organize events  that equip women to handle life’s difficulties while enriching their hearts, encouraging their souls, and expanding their impact in the community. During their events, they share with all women, regardless of their community affiliation, country of origin, and other backgrounds.  


The Department of Women within CCWC helps Congolese women:

  • To participate in community-based women's programs, 
  • To elaborate projects, and activities that emphasize active lifestyles
  • To foster women's development,
  • To facilitate divers performance,
  • To  provide instructional guidance to build a strong home
  • To engender a spirit of community in CCWC. 

Youth

The mission of the Department of Youth is to ensure that every youth has a fair and equal opportunity to attain his/her full potential, through strategies that strengthen family life and support families in their essential role in nurturing the youth’s overall development. Department of Youth creates positive outcomes for youth development through collaboration and strategic planning. CCWC supports this department's mission through various youth activities, guest speaker engagements, and diverse workshops. These efforts create a safe environment for youth to flourish and contribute to their overall success.  


The goal is to support the programs in making a positive impact on the  youth of CCWC. Therefore, CCWC supports youth and their families by funding a wide range of high-quality youth and community development programs, including:

  • Afterschool
  • Summer camp
  • Trips
  • Weekend Activities
  • Literacy Services
  • Youth Workforce Development

These programs aim to point young people towards activities that are not only fun but also offer opportunities to develop skills, passions, and abilities that will last a lifetime. 


CCWC Youth are the next leadership committee of the organization; therefore, CCWC helps Congolese youth:

  • To develop better social skills
  • To become leaders
  • To gain greater self-knowledge
  • To foster lifelong relationships.
  • To develop resilience, self-awareness, and resourcefulness. 
  • To learn how to navigate through all stages of their life.  
  • To identify their own strengths
  • To get help from appropriate agencies


The organization’s vision is to see youth flourish, and their outcomes are not determined by race, age, disability, ethnicity, gender, immigration status, income, marital status, province of origin, or  religion.

During the youth meeting, they discuss about divers topics and  also provide workshops for community and youth groups on topics such as 

  • Diversity education
  • Managing discrimination and bullying
  • Communication and relationships
  • Career pathways. 


The department of Youth  provides programming that promotes 

  • Competency building
  • Social skills
  • Life skills
  • Academic improvement, 
  • Community development


This department offers a fun and safe space for the next generation. The space is designed to empower  to become their greatest selves. This initiative employs strategic ways to ensure all young people in CCWC have the assets they need to realize their full potential as they grow into young adults.

men

Department of Men is designed to offer fellowship, accountability, and mentorship to equip men to become stronger leaders in their families, workplaces, and local communities. CCWC provides practical tools and materials to help men build and flourish.


Departments of Men typically focus on several key pillars:

  • Fellowship & Accountability: Creating safe environments where men can discuss life challenges, successes,and build supportive relationships during their monthly meetings.
  • Community Service: Organizing volunteer opportunities, construction projects, and outreach events.
  • Leadership Development: Preparing men to take active roles within CCWC, their workplaces, and in their families through leadership training
  • Mentorship: Pairing older, experienced mentors with younger men to pass down life advice through annual conferences. 
  • Community Outreach: Organizing service-driven initiatives such as housing rehabilitation
  • Intergenerational Support: Providing structured spaces where older, experienced men can pass down life skills, career advice, and values to younger generations


This department is seeking men to become leaders. Being a leader means being someone others can rely on for strength, wisdom, and encouragement, each with unique abilities, perspectives, and experiences. It is developed through intentional growth and accountability. Therefore, events are planned to foster leadership, deepen community ties, and strengthen their male unity. This department also seeks to establish a secure and encouraging space where men can talk about matters important to them, including relationships and work-life balance. 


During men's meetings, they are given the guidance and support they need to understand and fulfill their responsibilities as leaders in their homes and communities. They also establish a strong support network, enabling men to build deep connections with others who share similar struggles and ideals. CCWC offers targeted programs for men focusing on mental health, fatherhood, mentorship, and healthy masculinity. These initiatives provide safe spaces for peer support, career development, and personal growth. 


Its signature programs and workshops are designed to sharpen critical thinking, enhance emotional intelligence, and promote overall wellness, preparing men to become confident, capable leaders of tomorrow. The Department of Men aims to create:

  • A community of mentors and role models who listen, encourage, and empower others.
  • A community of men who model integrity, accountability, compassion, and respect.
  • A community where men take responsibility for their choices.
  • A community where men feel supported, listened to, and valued.
